Last week, I had a blogpost published for the Research Collective of Decolonizing Fashion titled De-colonizing Fashion in Ghana: Changing a Stereotypical Image of “the Dark Continent” and Radiating Power in the Global Fashion System. The topic is on Decolonialization of fashion in Ghana and is based on mys own fieldwork research in Accra. It touches upon how actors from Ghana’s fashion system work to change the stereotypical image of Africa as ‘the Dark Continent’ through fashion to strengthen the local industry and radiate power in the Global fashion system. A good read to learn more about why non-Western fashion has got the swag. Check the blogpost here.
